A beta version of Niagara Launcher for Android has added what the developer calls “Pop-Up”, according to a post on Medium. The feature is described as a more versatile version of folders. These pop-ups can contain apps, shortcuts, notifications, and widgets.
The Pro version lets you add folders to the app list, in addition to the home screen. Swiping right on an app opens its pop-up and lets you access their notifications, related apps, and shortcuts. You can now add pop-up widgets and get “information at a glance while keeping your home screen clean”.
The developer is also testing some new features for the Niagara Button, a replacement of the Google Button to let you perform quick actions on your home screen.
The beta version is not yet available in Google Play, so for now it needs to be sideloaded at your own risk. You can become a beta tester of Niagara Launcher here.
