A look at Files layout

Replace Windows Explorer with the modern Files app instead

Ever since Windows XP and up to Windows 10, Microsoft has done a lot to improve most aspects of the operating system. But the Explorer has largely remained the same. If you would like to try something new then you should check out Files. It’s a modern and more manageable file manager.

The app offers more features and is more configurable than the default Windows Explorer. In Files, you can use tabs, like in a web browser. You can click on the dots in the upper right corner to open a new tab or window, copy the path or even launch the command prompt directly in the current directory.

Files are the modern file manager you always wanted. It’s packed with features such as fluent design, tabs, layout modes, and much more. We are collaborating with users every step of the way through GitHub, if you have a feature request or feedback for the app, make sure to share it on the GitHub repository.

If this sounds interesting then you can find it in Microsoft Store or just click here to get redirected. If you don’t like it you can just uninstall it and keep using the default Explorer.
